A hardcover book of eighty-five photographs, titled "Summertime," curated and edited by Joanne, features the work of 50 emerging and established contemporary photographers and will be published by Chronicle Books in the Spring of 2014.
Joanne's fine-art photographs are made by hand in small, numbered editions using traditional photographic film and gelatin silver printing techniques. Her works have been shown in galleries in the United States and abroad and are part of numerous private collections. Her latest series, "Turning Point," was created after the six-day blackout in NYC in 2012 and explores the vulnerability and fragile nature of artificial light in the modern urban environment.
Joanne's work has been recognized with national photography, design and publishing awards from Communication Arts, Photo District News, Graphis, The Art Director’s Club, HOW Magazine and the AIGA, among others. She has advanced technical expertise in both analog and digital photographic methods.
She is a faculty member of the International Center of Photography in New York City and the Fine Arts Work Center in Provincetown, MA where she teaches a course called "On Seeing What's Right in Front of You," among others, and has lectured in educational institutions in New York City and the US.
