Nora founded Kollabora, a new kind of online maker community; a catalyst for making offering community, know-how, supplies, inspiration and connection to DIY makers focused on fashion and lifestyle. You can find and share original DIY projects and source the supplies used for that.
Kollabora is funded by Khosla Ventures, Collaborative Fund, Allen & Co, Burda/DLD Ventures, 500 Startups, and others.
Nora writes as a startup mentor for the WSJ’s The Accelerators blog. She is a member of the board of the Craft and Hobby Association.
Before starting Kollabora, Nora reinvented an old sewing magazine into the DIY fashion community BurdaStyle.com, with over 850,000 members now an icon in the sewing community.
Nora began her career at German power-publisher Hubert Burda Media and is part of the founding team of the DLD (Digital Life Design) conference.
She’s published two books and has been invited to share her experience at Web 2.0 Expo, DLDwomen, Picnic, FOO (Friends of O'Reilly Media), Parsons School of Design, Stream, the World Economic Forum Media Summit, and NY Forum and as a judge at the TechCrunch Hackathon.
Her work has appeared in The New York Times, WSJ, Bloomberg, Wired, BusinessWeek, Women's Wear Daily, and Fast Company.
