About
Bora Shin is a multidisciplinary designer that leverages design and research practices at the intersection of communication design, technology, and learning.
Bora is a partner at verynice, a global design and innovation consultancy that dedicates over 50% of its work toward free services for non-profit organizations. She provides design, research, and strategic guidance behind the studio’s solutions, and hands-on leadership for the studio’s client work and independent experiments. Her work is internationally recognized through publications and awards from acclaimed institutions including the AIGA, Communication Arts, HOW, Rockport, The University & College Designers Association, Council for Advancement and Support of Education, and the Type Director’s Club. Prior to joining verynice in 2012, her experiences include work in print, web, publication and exhibition design for arts and culture institutions, educational establishments, and non-profit organizations.
She holds a BFA in Graphic Design with a concentration degree in Environmental Design from MICA, and a MFA in Media Design from the Art Center College of Design. Upon graduating, Bora was awarded as an Art Center post-graduate fellow to continue her research. Her thesis work, BeMySatellite allowed her to further investigate collaborative satellite image making in the context of an Earth flyby for the NASA's Juno Mission at Jet Propulsion Laboratory.
