Fernanda is one of the leading women in Uruguay´s communication industry. She is the founder of Alva, a full service advertising agency that is rocking the boat in the local industry. She has been invited as speaker to several high profile events - Pecha Kucha Nights, Marketers, etc - and has been in the media regularly sharing her thoughts and experience in consumer trends and communication. She has worked for more than 20 years in the field, starting on the client side while earning her Sociology degree and later an MBA. She was in charge of the online department of a local media group as she got a Fulbright scholarship and left to the US to earn an MA and MPA from Syracuse University. As she went back home to Uruguay she was Planning Director for Y&R Brands in Montevideo (YR and Wunderman) and NB Director. She was selected as the best Account Executive in 2010. Later that year, she led the opening and was country manager for the first international PR firm in Uruguay, Burson Marsteller. In 2011 she was awarded the “Person under 35 to watch” in the communications industry. She was later Sales and Marketing Director for the Uruguayan news media group El Observador and was president of the Circulo Uruguayo de la Publicidad in 2012 – 2013.
